Congratulations are in order: You’re getting married! And trust us, there is a lot to do. One of the most important parts of your wedding planning process is letting your loved ones know about your special day. Wedding invites are the formal FYI that you send to your family members and friends, and they provide most of the information they will need prior to attending your celebration. They are part of a crucial step, and there are so many different directions you can take with your own wedding invites.
With this extensive guide that tackles everything about wedding invites, you can feel empowered, well-informed and ready to start designing your own stationery. In it, we will use our expert experience in the industry to cover the planning journey and how wedding invites factor into it all. At Bliss & Bone, our designers have created special wedding invites samples to inspire you and your partner. And with plenty of customization opportunities, all of the wedding invites have a personal touch from the wedding couple.
Whether you are going for a modern style or love the idea of classic wedding invites, you need to have the same general information in either type. In this section, we will outline the general structure and the information you will need to provide for your guests.
To get started, let’s break down the recommended wording and features of wedding invites. Here is a wedding invites sample to help you get an idea of how these will look:
Ms. Eleanor Austin
Requests the Honor of Your Presence
To Celebrate the Wedding of
Lane Austen
to
Murphey James
October Twenty Seventh
Two Thousand Twenty Two
Eight O’Clock in the Evening
The Pierre at Two East Sixty First Street
New York, New York
As you can see, you need to include the following components: The host (optional, since you and your partner could be hosting), specific invitation wording, couple’s names, date, time and venue details. While the Save the Dates will explain all of the basics—particularly the date or dates and the city or venue where you are getting married—your wedding invites are full of the more detailed information for your guests.
In addition to your wedding invites, you may need to order items to round out your invitation suite. Here are the recommended items for your wedding invites set: If you are designing printed wedding invites, you will need the invitation, a response card and envelope, a mailing envelope and postage. For some couples, it makes sense to send out printed wedding invites and provide instructions to RSVP digitally on their wedding website. Meanwhile, if you want to make your own online wedding invites, everything can be handled on your and your guests’ computers or phones. This includes the RSVP cards and responses, extra details about a welcome party or post-wedding brunch and more.
For many of us, wedding etiquette can feel a bit outdated or even irrelevant. As we explain wedding invites etiquette, keep in mind that you do not have to follow it exactly. The best advice is to do what feels right and appropriate for you, your partner and the event you are looking forward to hosting in the near future. Here are some considerations for your wedding invites wording, as it relates to etiquette:
The wedding host or hosts: Before you do anything, you need to understand who is hosting your wedding. Traditionally, the bride’s parents are responsible for hosting (and with that, paying) for the wedding. And for your invitation, you will typically start the invitation by naming the host. Think of your wedding invites as a somewhat long sentence explaining the who, what, where and when of your epic celebration. If you and your partner are hosting the event, or another family member or friend is taking the reins, you can adjust that in your wedding invites. If you want to continue going through the traditional route, you will want to write something like, “Mr. and Mrs. John Adam Smith request…” And if you are hosting your wedding, it is common to skip the host line and start it with your and your partner’s names. Then, you can follow it with “...invite you to their wedding.” And if both families are hosting your wedding, you can simply write, “Together with their families” to kick off your wedding invites.
The wedding invitation wording: This feels like a basic part of wedding invites, but many couples get really creative with it. In most formal wedding invites, you will see “the honor of your presence” or “the pleasure of your company.” For example, in lieu of saying something more informal, such as, “[The host(s) name(s)] invite you…” you could say, “The honor of your presence is requested to celebrate the marriage of…” Or you can be bold and modern and write a statement like, “Adrian & Bridgette are madly in love.” From there, you can continue with the traditional setup and details. There are so many options and opportunities to put your own spin on this part of your wedding invites.
The wedding couple’s names: Keep it classic and include the couple’s titles and first, middle and last names. For example Mr. John Matthew Smith and Miss Jane Emily Moore. Or, if the bride’s parents are hosting and have the same last name as the bride, you can include the bride’s first and middle name and then the groom’s full name. For example, Miss Jane Emily and Mr. John Matthew Smith. We have also been seeing a lot of couples deciding on their first names only. In this case, that would look like “Jane and John.” This is a more modern minimalist approach to wedding invites, and we are here for it. You really cannot go wrong on this one, but it is up to you and your partner.
Time and date of your wedding: According to the wedding etiquette experts at EmilyPost.com, the date should be spelled out, lower-case for everything but the day of the week and month, and there is no “and” in the middle of a year. For example, it is “two thousand twenty-three,” not “two thousand and twenty-three.” In addition to this, you should also capitalize the month and day and it is recommended that you use “half after six o’clock” as opposed to “6:30” or “half past 6.”
City and venue name for your wedding: You should fully spell out the city and state where you are getting, unless your guests are all local. In most cases, you will have out-of-town guests, so just make it clear where exactly the ceremony and reception are being held. And if you are hosting a destination wedding, you should explicitly write the country where you will be getting married.
RSVP information: You will also need to direct your guests to how and when to RSVP for your wedding. This comes from the French expression, “réspondez s’il vous plaît,” which translates to “please respond.” You can write it as RSVP, R.S.V.P., r.s.v.p. or R.s.v.p. per EmilyPost.com. If you are planning on sending out formal, printed wedding invites, you should also include a reply card with a stamped envelope to send to every guest. For more informal invites, you can set up an RSVP wedding website feature. Either way, you should ask for guests to submit their RSVPs by three to four weeks before the wedding. By learning about your final numbers early, you and your venue can better prepare for the event itself.
Wedding website information: If you have a registry or simply want guests to learn about your wedding website, you should include a link to it in your wedding invites. This feature can work particularly well with an online wedding invitation, but you can also have the URL printed on your invites. Some people also like to customize their URL, so it is a simple setup like johnandjane.com. If you want to go this route, you will need to purchase your own domain on a site such as GoDaddy.com.
It may be difficult to imagine how these different configurations might look on your wedding invites. Here are popular and unique wedding invites samples for wording:

These are the primary components to any wedding invites, no matter your style or thematic preference. By understanding the etiquette and customary setup, we hope to make the invitation writing process even easier for you and your partner. And again, you do not need to stick with these rules if you are not comfortable with the traditional lingo. Work with your own ideas and see which wording matches your personality and aesthetic best. It can be as simple as including your first names, the wedding date, time and location. And voila—you have a wedding invite.
If you are not set on a wedding theme or color scheme quite yet, your stationery solutions can inform future decisions. From modern minimalist to rustic wedding invites, these are prepared and designed to match practically any theme. At Bliss & Bone, we offer near-countless wedding invites samples, and all of them fall under particular themes. You can even filter by particular themes or moods to generate the relevant wedding invites examples.
To give you a starting point, we can direct you to point out popular, trending themes that couples love. For information about on-trend wedding themes, these are some of our favorites:
Classic wedding invites: These are your standard wedding invites that are straightforward, beautiful and relatively simple. Some might feature romantic floral accents, while others are more minimalist and traditional. Most wedding invites will fall under this category, since it is perhaps the most popular option for couples planning their big days.
Vintage wedding invites: With softer tones, deckle edges and other elements that feel like the design is from a different era, vintage wedding invites provide so much interest and romance. From black and white to super colorful wedding invites, you can truly find the aesthetic and time that you want to reflect in your stationery suite. Go for a retro moment or communicate a more glam 1920s wedding style. Technically, one definition of the word “vintage” is that it references things that are 20 or more years old. So, anything in the 1900s is fair game for this category!
Floral wedding invites: Whether you are planning a spring wedding or simply love the romance of fresh florals, these wedding invites are a perennial favorite among couples. There are tropical-inspired options full of greenery and whimsical garden party-style templates you will love. There are also moodier, more romantic invites that feature roses and peonies for an extra “wow” factor.
Tropical wedding invites: These are all about the leaves that signify an island-style function. For example, Monstera leaves and palm fronds are classic options for people who want wedding invites that pull in nature. Think about the greenery surrounding and throughout your wedding venue, if any. Matching the scenery is ideal for any wedding invitation, and if you are getting married near the beach, these are perfect for that. This is also a super popular option for couples planning a destination wedding on a tropical island, such as Hawaii or Tahiti.
Modern minimalist wedding invites: They are chic, sleek and perfect for the ultra-modern couple. With an emphasis on color combinations like neutrals and black and white, these work well with formal black tie functions. We see these wedding invites fitting into anything from a ballroom wedding to museum-style celebration.
Boho wedding invites: If you are getting married in the middle of a desert or forest, you probably want a romantic, playful aesthetic that brings you closer to nature. In our opinion, few things do that better than boho wedding invites. These commonly feature warm neutrals like reds, pinks and oranges, and they are often associated with rustic wedding invites.
Rustic wedding invites: Speaking of popular, boho chic wedding invites, we have to talk about going with a rustic theme. There is an emphasis on organic decor, such as leaves and branches. You might also see floral crowns, Mason jars and loose bouquets at these celebrations. With that, you might see coordinating flowers or leaf stems, and perhaps some deckle edge paper in these wedding invites.
Country wedding invites: These generally fall under the “rustic” umbrella, but these are more western and might include accents like cowboy boots and hats. More subtle details might include Mason jars and twinkle lights as well. These events are usually hosted outdoors, so you can try and match your invitations to the colors and plants in the countryside.
Romantic wedding invites: Of course, most weddings should be romantic. But if you want to truly emphasize the romance, you can do this with everything from your decor to wedding invites. You can focus on mood-lighting with hanging lights or chandeliers, bring in soft colors and corresponding florals and more. The wedding invites would also reflect the theme, and we recommend finding a template that has lots of reds and pinks and floral accents.
Your overall theme can really impact the rest of the decisions you make for your wedding. And whatever ways you and your partner want to celebrate your big day, make sure your wedding invites reflect this theme and any aesthetic-related preferences.
While your to-do list might feel endless, we are here to help you navigate the process of creating your one-of-a-kind wedding invites. But before you review our top wedding invites samples (more on this later!), you need to check off a few items on your list. From having sometimes-difficult conversations about your finances to choosing the best Save the Date templates, these are the key steps to follow prior to designing your own wedding invites.
Here is your guide to designing your wedding invites:
Have an honest conversation about your budget. Gather together with your partner and any other “wedding stakeholders.” These are individuals—typically family or friends—who have offered to help pay for parts or all of your wedding. By traditional standards, this would be the bride’s parents or both the bride’s and groom’s parents. Not all weddings or families are structured in this way, though, so meet with any “stakeholders” and talk about how much you can spend on every vendor.
Consider hiring a wedding planner. If it coordinates with your previously discussed budget, planners are pros who can make your wedding plans practically seamless. With big connections in the industry and years of experience, these party planners are your go-to for all things related to your wedding. Consulting with a planner can streamline your planning experience and this expert can weigh in on difficult choices like your wedding invites, chosen attire, decor and much more. You will always be grateful for having a trusted pro in your corner.
Make your guest list. It might feel like it is too early in the process for this one, but your guest list will contribute to nearly all of the event decisions you make. With your budget in mind, you and your partner should sit down and take note of the people you really want to be there when you say, “I do.” You will also need to know the guest list, as it will help you narrow down your wedding venue options. Some venues might not be able to accommodate your entire desired guest list, so it is important to have at least an idea of your numbers by the time you tour potential sites. During this time, you can also ask your beloved family and friends for their contact information. If you are doing digital-only invites, ask for their email addresses. But if you plan to send out more formal paper invites, double-check that you have their correct home addresses. Some people might have moved or be moving soon, so this is a super helpful step. Plus, it gives you a natural opportunity to say “hello” to your favorite people.
Tour wedding venues and book your favorite one. Think about where you would like to get married and do your research. Would you like to host your celebration in your hometown, or would you prefer a special place at a destination locale? Depending on your budget and guest list, you can review which venues will be able to accommodate you and your party. Some might not share pricing upfront, but you can also visit and dive into costs from there. Your venue accounts for about 40 percent of your overall wedding cost, so it is arguably the most important decision you will make in the planning process. If the venue you and your partner love fits your financial planning, fits all of your guests and has a date you can work with, put down a deposit and confirm your booking. You can also confirm if they have an onsite coordinator, who can help keep everything in line on the day of your wedding. If not, you should also explore the perks of having a month-, week- or day-of wedding coordinator. With so much going on during the day of your wedding, it is reassuring to know that someone has your back through it all.
Explore different wedding website templates and customize your own. Once you have made the big decisions about where and when your wedding is happening, digitize that information. Wedding websites are incredibly convenient and they can even coordinate with your stationery suite. At Bliss & Bone, our easy-to-use templates are part of collections that include wedding invites, Save the Dates and more. Your wedding website can also serve as a digital hub for all of the information that might not be provided in your invitation suite, and it can also serve as the location where people can RSVP. If you have last-minute details that need to be sent out to guests, you can also inform them through your wedding website. Other important elements like frequently-asked questions, bridal party introductions, photos of you and your partner and more can be added to your wedding website.
Design your own Save the Dates. About six to eight months prior to your wedding date, you should send out your Save the Dates. These are simple cards that give your guests the heads up about your upcoming event. If you are planning a destination wedding, it is recommended that you send out your Save the Dates even earlier. This is the first formal correspondence you will have with your guests, and it sets the tone for the other decor and design decisions you make for your celebration. You can send printed Save the Dates through the mail, or it is becoming more and more popular to deliver email Save the Dates directly to your loved ones’ virtual inboxes. In your Save the Date, you can also include a link to your wedding website, so guests know where to look for additional information.
Look through wedding invites samples and personalize one. There are plenty of online and printed wedding invites you can choose from at Bliss & Bone. Whatever your invitation method—digital or paper—the customizations are practically endless. They can be organized by theme and you can select the wedding invites sample you love most. In many cases, couples opt to shop by collection at Bliss & Bone, which guarantees coordination. Our full sets include Save the Dates, wedding invites and more to design and make all your own. These should be sent out to your invited guests two to three months prior to your wedding. With that, you should also request that guests RSVP three to four weeks before your special day. This way, you will have time to finalize your guest list and start working on the seating chart.
These are the basic steps leading up to and during your wedding invites design process. It goes without saying that you will have plenty of other decisions to make for your outfits, florals, decor and much more. There has been a massive surge in the number of weddings hosted per year, and we do not see that trend slowing down. With that, it is important to stay organized and give yourself enough time to check all of these very necessary and important boxes. But with your stationery suite covered through these steps, you will be even closer to enjoying your joyous celebration.
To print or digitize—that is the question. If you are not sure whether to go for printed or online wedding invites, rest assured. We are here to help break down the differences, discuss pros and cons and prepare you for the design process.
The Benefits of Online Wedding Invites:
Your wedding invites are important, and they do factor into your overall budget and style. Here are some of the reasons why many people choose online wedding invites:
Efficiency: It is tough to beat the efficiency of creating online wedding invites. Because you can select and design them all with a few clicks, it is feasible to customize your own wedding invites sample and send them off on the same day.
Cost: These wedding invites will cost significantly less than their printed counterparts. For this reason, many more budget-conscious wedding couples choose to go digital.
Eco-friendly: Saving paper with digital wedding invites will reduce your carbon footprint. So, in addition to lower prices, couples are also happy with this more eco-friendly option.
Added features: You can easily and seamlessly connect your wedding invites to your wedding website, giving guests the opportunity to go directly to your digital hub. While there, your guests can also RSVP with the click of a button.
The Benefits of Printed Wedding Invites:
The most classic form of wedding invites, paper designs are perfect for couples who want to provide their guests with a more tactile experience. Here are some key reasons why couples decide on making beautiful printed wedding invites.
Tradition: If you want to follow classic etiquette, sending out formal invitations through the mail is the way to go. While experts like EmilyPost.com say it is no longer necessary, it is a beloved standard in the wedding industry.
Experience: Do you want your guests to truly experience your invitation? While an evite will effectively communicate your plans, there is just something about checking your mail and receiving a formal invitation. Think through your ultimate goals here and then decide if you want this format.
Keepsake: It goes without saying that you, and many of your guests, will want to have a keepsake from your special day. Wedding invites are a perfect example of that, and you can hold onto the physical paper for years to come.
Print-digital hybrid: Let’s say you want to have the beautiful, tangible part of a paper invite with the efficiency of a digital one. You can combine our printed invites with a cohesive wedding website that you can include a link to on your formal invitation. From there, guests can go and RSVP and learn more about your event online.
There is not one “correct” way to communicate your wedding plans. Whether you and your partner gravitate toward digital or printed versions, your wedding invites are a reflection of the two of you and your upcoming celebration. Think about how to best communicate everything and then start the building and custom design process.
As you prepare to order your wedding invites, you should understand the pricing breakdown for them. As we discussed previously in the guide, there are significant cost differences between digital and printed wedding invites. Before you explore different wedding invites samples, decide on the price point that will work best for you and your budget.
For wedding couples leaning toward printed invites, it goes without saying that this will dip into your budget more than their digital counterparts. For a set of 100, they should cost anywhere from $700 to $1,200, according to Brides.com. That number will increase as you customize it with premium features like gold foil, wax seals, embossing and more. Plus, with printed wedding invites, you will likely order insert cards, envelopes and stamps, which will also affect the overall cost of your invitation suite.
By contrast, online wedding invites will run about $1 per invitation, so it would be approximately $100 for 100. These types of wedding invites require less time and they come with a seamless way to direct your guests to the wedding website, where they will RSVP.
At Bliss & Bone, the costs of wedding invites are in line—if not, lower—than the average. Printed options start at $257.50 for 25, A7 (5 x 7-inch) one-play cards. For letterpress wedding invites, you can expect to see prices starting at $527.50 and for metallic foil, costs will start at $655. One major perk of our online builder is that you can see real-time pricing, so you know exactly how much every add-on or decision you make will affect the total. And for online wedding invites, those will cost $1.20 each for one to nine recipients, or $0.90 each for 10 or more. If you are planning to send more than 500 wedding invites, please reach out to us for assistance.
Dreaming of the perfect online invitation suite? There are so many wedding invites samples out there, and we have a few of our own favorites to share. Depending on your chosen theme or color scheme ideas, you can easily find the top choices for wedding invites.
From your theme to venue, so many ideas for your wedding invites are out there. Here are some of our go-to wedding invites sample ideas to explore:
Wedding invites samples for classic events: Even classic weddings can have a modern refresh with digital wedding invites. Bring your more traditional ceremony and reception ideas into the modern age with digitized hubs for your wedding information. Our classic templates can also work for practically any color scheme, and you can simply adjust the hues to fit your aesthetic. A perfect example of this is the Blair wedding invite, which has a velvety background, white paper, script font and a delicate bow wrapped around it.
Wedding invites samples for vintage events: While your wedding might be drawing inspiration from yesteryear, you can modernize with online invites with this theme too. The online templates at Bliss & Bone feel authentic and vintage, thanks to three-dimensional objects and texture that you would not expect to see from digital invites. For example, the Elodie wedding invites have a soft color palette, gentle flowers and an almost filtered look that appears like it existed in a different time.
Wedding invites samples for floral events: If you are leaning into the floral elements of your celebration, you should coordinate the ideas with invites. There are near-countless wedding invites sample ideas that feature flowers and greenery. For instance, the Lulu wedding invitation is full of oranges and pinks—and of course, lots of flowers. For a bright, fun celebration, you cannot go wrong with a floral wedding invite like this one. As an alternative, the Smith wedding invitation features a black and white color scheme with florals. The key aspect is the wedding invites background, which presents a black and white filtered image of beautiful flowers for a moody and beautiful aesthetic.
Wedding invites samples for tropical events: We have one word for these wedding invites: greenery. Palm fronds, Monstera leaves and more will all immediately signify your tropical theme to your guests. One of our favorite wedding invites is the Remy template, which has Monstera leaves and leaf-like shadows surrounding a minimalist invitation.
Wedding invites samples for modern minimalist events: Keep things chic and simplistic with modern wedding invitations. These elevated designs are wide-ranging and ideal for practically any couple. As an example of this wedding invites sample, take a look at the Santana invite. This template uses a modern-minimalist, all-caps font and does not shy away from color. While many items in this category feature black and white color combinations, this one has a forest green paper and cream leather wedding invites background. For a more classic option in this direction, the Elizabeth template is another invitation solution. With a white and gray color palette, plus just a hint of greenery, it will work for almost any occasion and theme.
Wedding invites samples boho events: Connect with nature and opt for boho-style invitations. These may play up the natural elements near your venue, like flowers or stems you could find near the spot where you will say, “I do.” Or a boho wedding invitation could have a vintage appeal that harkens back to a different time. One example of this is the Marco wedding invitation, which has thoughtful floral accents and a retro-inspired porcelain plate and stamps. Another wedding invites sample could be the Kelsey template, which boasts deckle edges and neutral tones.
Wedding invites samples for rustic events: Somewhat similar to boho invites, these rustic stationery suite options combine nature and imperfectly perfect styling. The Avery invite, for example, has a dusting of gold for a combination of whimsy and glam. And if you are hosting a rustic wedding ceremony in the mountains, the Annabeth wedding invite has winter-inspired elements like a snow-covered pine cone and deep hues of blue and gray.
Wedding invites samples for country events: Yeehaw! It is time to party in the countryside, and your wedding invites can clearly show that. The Austen wedding invites can subtly display your chosen theme, thanks to the delicate three-dimensional florals that you might find somewhere in the country.
Wedding invites samples for romantic events: Amp up the romance and moodiness of your festivities with romantic invites. The Layla, for instance, has a darker background with blooming peonies. These particular flowers are associated with “love, honor, happiness, wealth, romance and beauty.” So, it is an obvious choice for wedding invites samples intended for the most romantic affairs. A lighter and brighter alternative is the Hayden wedding invite, which features bunched up peonies, deckle edges and a creamy color palette.
We have highlighted a few of our favorite options here, but these are just a handful of the near-countless ideas for your online wedding invites.
If you have weighed the pros and cons of printed wedding invites, it is understandable that you want to explore your options in this category. Here are some additional wedding invites samples for the themes we have described in this guide.
These are a selection of must-have printed wedding invite ideas. They have a more extensive list of add-ons, since you can also pair it with coordinating insert cards, envelopes and more:
Classic wedding invites sample ideas: For a classic wedding, we typically think of ballrooms or formal event spaces. With this in mind, your wedding invites might reflect a formal, traditional celebration. Printed invites are the most classic and yes, traditional option available, making them an easy choice for those planning this type of wedding. The Calvin wedding invites are an ideal sample of this, as it comes with a minimalist-yet-traditional approach and is featured on a plain white piece of luxurious paper.
Vintage wedding invites sample ideas: A vintage wedding theme draws a lot of inspiration from perennially popular eras, and that could be any significant time period’s decor and vibe. For instance, you could host a Great Gatsby-style wedding and share that aesthetic through wedding invites with metallic and glam features. One of our most popular examples of this idea is the Grayson wedding invitation template, which has a signature logo and vintage hues of gray and brown.
Floral wedding invites sample ideas: If you are hosting a tropical event and want to feature a floral accent, that is completely doable. One example that makes a flower the focus is the Brigitte wedding invitation. This one has a large hibiscus with a black and white filter. Plus, there are wedding websites, rehearsal dinner invitations and more that have the same focal point and color scheme. For a spring garden party-style event, the Aiden wedding invitation comes with a floral wedding logo and a barely-there background with an out-of-focus floral design.
Tropical wedding invites sample ideas: To get married island-style, the printed invites concept is fairly easy to portray. Lots of greenery and even some pops of color like pink could translate to the beachy vibe you are interested in. If you are saying, “I do,” at a luxury hotel, for instance, you could also get inspired by the decor and color palette of the property. The Aaron template works in this theme with neutral green and cream tones. If you want to go for a tropical theme without overdoing it, these are the best wedding invites for you.
Modern minimalist wedding invites sample ideas: An increasingly popular idea, the modern minimalist aesthetic proves that less really can be more. Thanks to templates like the Bradford design, your guests can start preparing themselves for a personalized, romantic and totally chic celebration. It features a handwritten-looking font with the wedding couple’s names and has the classic black and white palette. Also, some do not think you can combine greenery and tropical environments with a modern affair. To prove this, the Brando wedding invitation has a minimalistic, elegant appeal thanks to the white, green and black color combination and pop of greenery. Out of the top right hand corner, the Monstera leaves immediately translate to an island-style event.
Boho wedding invites sample ideas: Bohemian wedding invitations often feature neutrals and sometimes a natural element or two. The Amelia template, for example, has a warm neutral color combination with a deep orange paper and cream-colored font and envelope. Plus, the matching stationery suite items come with delicate flowers, shadows and more. We also love how the Declan wedding invitation has a minimalist approach to the boho style, as it features a textured paper with a handwritten-like, script font and neutral color palette.
Rustic wedding invites sample ideas: If you love deckle edges and a romantic feel, these invitations are probably the best for your upcoming celebration. Rustic weddings often feature warm tones of pinks and oranges, and you will find that in the invitation templates available on our site. One example of this style is the Carter wedding invite, which features unique three-dimensional figures of a rock and piece of wood. The muted orange and botanical accents also fit into this popular invitation and wedding theme category.
Country wedding invites sample ideas: For a less rustic and more elevated contrast, printed country wedding invites can bring in some elegance to your celebration. Modern and traditional can come together here, especially if you lean into a country-inspired color palette. The Arlo wedding invitation is a unique option, since it has moodiness with deeper tones and the softer elements of florals and greenery.
Romantic wedding invites sample ideas: Everything from flowers to particular hues of red and pink immediately make us think about romance. This theme can be interpreted and translated in a variety of ways, but we love the moodiness of the Genevieve template. This floral design is a combination of darkness and light, and would be well-suited for a fall or winter wedding. A brighter, punchier option is the Luna invite, which boasts everything from flowers to fruit. Plus, the electric colors make it the ideal complement to a spring or summer soiree.
We encourage couples to get as creative and authentic as possible when it comes to wedding invites. All of these online wedding invites also come with the opportunity to add special features, which we will cover later in this guide.
At Bliss & Bone, we offer a unique experience to take control of your wedding invites and the customization process. There are can’t-miss opportunities to create an invitation suite you and your partner are both excited about, and we are here to help you through every step of the process.
Some of the most important and popular features and offerings on our site include:
Unique digital add-ons and features: You will build both types of invitations online, but the digital invites come with customization options like three-dimensional objects and shadows. We have an extensive collection of graphics, objects and photos that you will love looking through. This really makes your digital invitations pop off of your guests’ screens, and it adds texture and dimension that you won’t find on other invitation builders. Plus, some of our templates even come with the opportunity to upload a photo. These photo wedding invites could feature an image of you and your partner from a recent engagement photoshoot, a snapshot of your venue or even your pup. Think through how you want to display your online wedding invitation, and almost anything is possible with our templates and online builder.
Logos and monograms: You can work with a designer to create a beautiful, original logo or monogram. This can feature something as simple as your and your partner’s first initials, or it could be more elaborate and include your wedding date and location too. A designer can send over a proof about two business days from when you place your order, which will cost $40. One revision is allowed with your purchase, and any additional revisions will cost an extra $40. When you have approved the design, you will receive a print-ready file that you can use for your wedding invites, Save the Dates and more.
Custom event pages: These are linked to online invitations and coordinate with the ecard you send out to friends and family members. With that, you can expect to see similar design elements and colors featured in other aspects of your invitation suite.
Connectivity to your wedding website: Online wedding invitations come with a direct link to your wedding website, seamlessly guiding your guests to this center of information. There, guests can stay in the loop and connected, while also learning more about your registry and the RSVP process.
Email analytics: If you send out an online wedding invitation, we have access to email analytics that tell you whether your guests have received their invite. We also provide free follow-up emails, so you can remind your guests about your event and to RSVP for it ASAP.
Matching your wedding invites to other stationery must-haves: Let’s be honest: There are so many things you need to purchase to inform your guests about your wedding and for the celebration itself. Our cohesive lineup of invites, Save the Dates, wedding menus and more give you a clear match for nearly every design. You do not even have to think about developing this collection; instead, you can simply find one item, scroll down and see the other pieces in the set.
High-quality paper products for your entire stationery suite: Our collections of paper invitations, menus and more are made to order and you can even start from scratch. By shopping by collection though, you can guarantee consistency so these keepsakes are perfectly coordinating.
Real-time pricing: To streamline your payment process, you can see prices in real time as you build your invitations. This will keep you on track and in control of your budget through the design process. Cost transparency is important for everyone involved, and you can feel informed and comfortable throughout this step.
This should provide you with more context about what you can expect while working with the experts at Bliss & Bone. With years of experience designing products in the wedding industry, we know exactly what couples are looking for and how to make everything significantly easier and more beautiful.
Understanding how to build out your wedding invites, digital or printed, is a key step once you have found your perfect template. So, after reviewing all of the options, we encourage you to narrow down your choices until you find the absolute best one for you. From there, you can follow these steps to craft your own personalized wedding invites.
Here is everything you need to know about customizing digital wedding invites:
Choose your top choice and click on the image of the template. From there, you will be taken to the individual invitation page, where you can see a more up-close version of the online invite. If you are happy with what you see, click “Customize.”
In the online builder, you will have the opportunity to switch things up or simply change the text on your wedding invites. At this stage, you can also change the colors of the wedding invites background, alter the font or add in online-only features. These include our unique three-dimensional objects, shadows and other image options. Some templates may also allow you to upload your own image. Once you are done with the customizations, click “Next.”
You will be taken to the event page editor. This is a preview of what your guests will receive when they open up their email with your wedding invite inside. You can add more details and a personalized message at this step. When you are done editing your event page, click “Next.”
In the recipients section, you will want to include all of the names of your invited guests. Similar to more formal invitations sent through the mail, digital invites only require one email per household. For example, if a family of four are all invited and live in the same home, you can address it to all of them, but only send it to one person’s email. This step will involve outreach and research, as you might not have every person’s contact information. You can move forward after you have uploaded every guest’s name and email. When you are ready, click “Next.”
Enter your payment information at the tailend of this process and then hit, “Send.” Remember that you only need to pay $0.90 per recipient, which is why it is important to group guests by household. After this final step, you can sit back and prepare for the RSVPs to roll in.
With our email analytics, you can rest assured knowing who has received and opened your wedding invites. This is a major pro to sending out your wedding invites via email, and you can also manage them within an easy-to-use dashboard. Plus, you can send out free follow-up emails that match your wedding invites and give your guests a heads up about anything you need to share with them.
And here is exactly how you can build printed wedding invites:
Look through the printed invites available and then click on the template you love most. After reviewing the costs and seeing it more zoomed in, click on “Customize + Price.”
In the printed invitation builder, you can follow the guided process of selecting every aspect of your invitation suite. From the paper type and color to fonts, you can explore all of the unique options to get as creative as possible. If you are not sure what type of paper you want, feel free to request a sample pack from us. These will showcase the quality of our products and give a tangible example of one-ply and two-ply cards, among other things. Keep an eye on the upper righthand corner, as it will continue to update the pricing information. When you are satisfied with your wedding invites, click “Next.”
For this next stage, you can order envelopes, inserts and reply cards to round out your wedding invites suite. These should coordinate well with your invite design and you can also personalize the text here. In the “Details” section, make sure you are as thorough as possible. The “Card Text” bank should include every detail you want to provide on your wedding invites, and the “Envelope Text” should feature your return address that will appear on the envelope flap. You will also need to fill out our guest address file template. Click “Download Required Template,” fill out your guests’ information and then upload it in the Details section. Again, make sure to group your guests by household, so you do not make the expensive mistake of mailing your wedding invites to each and every guest. If you toggle on “Add an Insert Card,” you can add in the quantity you need and exactly what you want to appear on the card. For example, this might be a separate card with details about a welcome party or post-wedding brunch. And if you want guests to send back an RSVP through the mail, make sure to opt in for the Reply Card and Reply Envelope. If you want to share even more with your designer, add it in the “Notes to Designer” section. Finally, click “Next.”
Review your order and include your financial information to pay for your invitations. If you are all set, you can submit your order and sit back while our designers go to work. You will have a dedicated designer, who will be busy crafting your perfect wedding invites. Within about three business days, you will receive a digital .pdf proof displaying your wedding invites. You are always welcome to speak with a designer during the process, and your purchase comes with two rounds of digital proofs. If you need to see a few more options, every additional round of proofing is subject to a $35 fee.
After you give the final “OK” on your wedding invites, your design will be sent through for production. This step takes about 12 to 15 business days before your wedding invites arrive at your door. Rush services are also available, if you need your wedding invites sent over even sooner.
For printed invitations, you want to make sure you complete the process even earlier than you might for digital invites. And for digital or printed invites, you can also start from scratch. This means that you can begin the design process with a totally blank piece of paper and let your imagination run wild. Add in text boxes, images, objects and more that fit your dream wedding invites.
Give yourself and our designers enough time to work together on your wedding invites, and then ensure that your guests have enough time to send their RSVPs. If you want to digitize your RSVPs, you can always include instructions in your printed invites to submit their responses on an RSVP wedding website.
Picture this: You have personalized and sent out your wedding invites, and the RSVP deadline is fast-approaching. At this point you are in the final countdown leading up to your epic celebration. You will have phone calls with most, if not all, of your vendors to finalize timelines, decor decisions and of course, the all-important guest list. For starters, you should anticipate that anywhere between 70 to 85 percent of your invited guests will attend your wedding. With that, you can have a rough estimate for your venue or vendors, but in that final month, you should confirm your guest list.
Now, it is time to get organized. This is what you should do once you have received all of your RSVPs:
Send your numbers to the relevant people. Your planner, caterer and venue are the people who really need this information. You want to make sure you have enough food, drinks and seating options for your guests, so having this confirmed number is essential.
Make your seating chart. We are not going to lie; this is a sometimes challenging part of the last steps in the leadup to your wedding day. Figuring out which people should be seated together (and at times, who should be seated separately!) is key to your and your guests’ experiences at your event. You can group relatives with their immediate family members, put college friends at the same table and make sure childhood friends are near one another. You can also pick specific seats for every guest, or you can assign every guest a table and let your family and friends decide where exactly they will sit. It really depends on your style and preferences. When you have completed this step, make sure your planner and venue have this so they can be prepared for the reception setup and layout.
Design how you will show your seating chart. This is where some wedding couples love showing their creative side. You can share which table guests are assigned to on a board, or there are unique solutions to this area. Display names and table numbers or names on luggage tags for a travel-themed wedding, place them in Mason jars for a rustic event or anything else that feels authentic to you and your relationship. You can also feature a cute, on-trend saying, like “Our Favorite People” or you can keep it simple with “Find Your Seat.” This should be displayed clearly at your cocktail hour, so guests can review the chart and see where they need to go for the reception.
Decide whether you need wedding place cards. If you want total control over the individual seats where every guest will go, you need to order wedding place cards. These can be formal and have the title, first and last name, or you can keep it simple with every guest’s first name written or printed on it. If you want to give your guests free rein to decide on their specific seat at the table, you can also have wedding place cards displayed at the entrance to your event. This way, your guests can take their wedding place card (which should also include the table number or name) and immediately know where to go.
These are some steps that will keep you busy as you think about your plan for the reception. This is where you eat, drink and be married, so set it up to get the party started for everyone involved. Try not to stress too much about this part, though. At the end of the day, your guests are just excited to celebrate you, your partner and the special love that you share.
It is also completely understandable that some guests might get sick or have travel troubles before your wedding day. Most venues and planners will be able to adapt, and continue creating the wedding of your dreams.
Now that you feel more confident in your abilities to design and customize your own wedding invites, it is important to consider the other parts of your stationery suite. These are the items to make sure you have on your list:
Wedding websites: These are your information hubs for all things related to your wedding. Plus, you can also design your own wedding website announcement, which can alert your guests to check out your site.
Save the Dates: This is the first formal notification about your wedding, and it can be a digital or printed invite. You may want to include a more informal feature, like a photo, in these invites.
Rehearsal dinner invitations: Another digital or printed invite, this one goes out prior to your rehearsal dinner, which is generally hosted the night before your wedding. These do not necessarily have to follow your theme, and you can coordinate them with the location of your dinner.
Wedding menus: These are the paper products that detail everything your guests will eat at your wedding. Coordinating them with your invitation suite is the perfect way to tie everything together.
Bliss & Bone has templates for all of these products, and the best part is you can find matching and coordinating options that connect all of them. We want to make this designing process as fun, consistent and easy as possible, and our collections can help you do just that. Plus, you can include a customized monogram or logo in all of these products for an even more personalized, complementary look.
If you are starting from scratch with your wedding invites, you can also take note of your chosen fonts, colors and even three-dimensional objects and images to create the same cohesion that is guaranteed with our collections. You have countless options in our builder, which allows you to truly customize your one-of-a-kind project.
As you make your way through your stationery suite, wedding invites are perhaps the most important part. We are here to help you through this sometimes complicated journey and let you tap into your most artistic and creative side. You can also match them to the other pieces of your suite, which can effectively portray your theme and overall style.
